2024 South Island Masters Championship Success

The Deep South Masters squad, made up of several local rowing clubs, had fantastic success at the South Island Masters Rowing Championship event. It was held at Glendhu Bay on Lake Wanaka last week.The squad had many composite crews to give everybody plenty of races in their age, or ability level. This resulted in gold medals in 12 races, silver in 3 races and bronze in 2 races.We are especially proud of our novice women's masters performance, who have only had a few months training before the event and were interviewed by the NZ Rowing Hub imediately after their gold medal race. The more experienced women's masters also achieved great results in their sweep oar events, considering the fact that some of the crew had not fully recovered from recent health issues.Thank you to Stephen Charlie Photography for allowing your photos to be shared.
