Another great long distance race on the Oreti River
The Meridian Energy Winter Long Distance July race provided oarsome flat water with a touch of fog and a great row, well done everyone. Thank you to SRA and the Awarua Boating Club for organising this race, along with Anne, Julie and Suzanne for providing the yummy morning tea. Rachel lit the wood burner to warm us up when we got back inside, which was appreciated.
Well done also to the Jack family, having their first time in the coastal boat. Dad, Nigel in the No.1 seat, with daughter Lilah in 2 seat. (As a novice it is the longest distance she's ever rowed.) Jenna Sheperd in 3 seat- welcome back to rowing. Ian Hamilton in stroke seat and Nigel's son Sam Jack as cox being the first time in a rowing boat. Well coxed Sam
